With summer well underway and bbq season going strong The Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano have challenged me to come up with two summer recipes using the King of Cheeses.
Next up I’ve gone for some delicious Parmigiano Reggiano beef burgers grilled on the BBQ. I love making my own burgers, it’s so quick and easy to do and you can really craft the taste of the burger to your own requirements. Here by adding the Parmigiano Reggiano you get a delicious tangy and velvety tasting burger that just tastes so good! Fantastic for the whole family.
Did you know that Parmigiano Reggiano is one of the oldest and riches cheeses in the world? It is essentially still produced today as it was over 9 centuries ago, using the same ingredients and production techniques that have undergone very few changes over the centuries. As a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product, it must be made in its entirety in specific areas of Northern Italy under the eye of the Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano, who oversee all stages of the production process and individually quality check each wheel to ensure it is of the highest standard!
So, these burgers, easy to make and great for an evening bbq.
500g beef mince
200g grated Parmigiano Reggiano
5-6 pieces of shaved Parmigiano Reggiano
1. In a bowl mix by hand the mince, an egg, diced onion and the grated parmesan. Shape into burger shapes, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for an hour.
2. Cook the burgers on a bbq or grill for 15-20 minutes. Just before you take the burgers off to rest, place the shaved Parmigiano Reggiano on top
3. Assemble the burger
